Hi All,

Greetings for the day!

Today discussing new feature released – Knowledge Agents

What are Knowledge Agents?

  • Knowledge Agent (preview) is a new AI-powered SharePoint feature
  • Knowledge Agent is a built-in SharePoint capability designed to help our organization prepare content for AI.
  • It enriches, organizes, and maintains SharePoint content in a structured, authoritative format—optimized for Microsoft 365 Copilot agents.

  • It unifies fragmented AI features into a single, context-aware interface as shown in image below. That adapts to user roles and surfaces intelligent actions directly in the flow of work.

  • Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license on tenants and Admins managing SharePoint content and agents opted into Knowledge Agent preview.
  • The SharePoint ribbon icon has changed from the Copilot logo to a hexagon to indicate Knowledge Agent-enabled sites.
  • This enhancement supports high-quality, trustworthy responses from Microsoft 365 Copilot and custom agents.

  • Agent creation remains available via:
    • Site homepage
    • Agent chat pane
    • AI actions menu in the command bar of a document library
    • Content menu of selected file(s) in a document library
  • Role-based capabilities include:
    • Content managers (A user with read, write, and list permissions) have the ability to structure content. They can tag and enrich content using smart metadata. AI recommendations also assist them in this process.
    • Site owners (A user with full Site Owner permissions) can identify stale pages, broken links, and content gaps.
    • Content creators (A user with read and write permissions to site contents) can generate pages using natural language prompts. They can also create documents. They need at least Site Members group access.
    • Collaborators and viewers can surface grounded insights via natural language chat.
