Major Update : Power Platform – Announcing Managed Environments for Microsoft Power Platform

Today new major update – Microsoft announced managed environment for Power Platform
Major Update – Managed Environments for Power Platform is now available in public clouds
Details
What is managed environment for Power Platform
- Managed Environments provides a set of enhanced governance capabilities for Power Platform admins
- These governance capabilities help Power Platform admins to simplify, automate, and streamline IT administration for Power Platform
When I could see an option to manage environment in my tenant / When this update will be rolled out
- The progressive rollout of the enhancements started from yesterday, 12 Oct 22
- Depending on the home region of our tenant, we can use the newly announced capabilities
- For the tenants, for which this major update rolled out they could use the managed environment features right away
What changes will happen in my Tenant
- In Power Platform admin center under “Environments” section we will see two links
- Learn about Managed Environments (Preview)
- Enable Managed Environments (Preview)
- Navigate to “Power Platform admin center” – https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/

- Once we navigated to “Power Platform admin center” we will on “Power Platform admin center” home page as
- From left pane of “Power Platform admin center” click on “Environments” link
- We will redirected to “Environments” listing page as – https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/environments
- Select the environment for which we need to enable managed environment as
Permissions required for enabling / editing managed environments
- Must have one of the Azure AD role
- Global admin
- Power Platform service admin role
- Dynamic 365 admin
How can I enable managed environment for Power Platform
- Navigate to “Environments” section in “Power Platform admin center”
- Select the “Environment” for which we need to enable “Managed Environments”
- Here I have only one default environment which I am selecting
What happen when I enable “Managed Environments”
- Admins will be able to use the latest industry-leading security, compliance, and governance capabilities for their low code solutions
- Following features Admin can leverage – please notice above image as well
- Weekly digest
- Weekly digest will sent to all users mentioned in “Email recipients (for all Managed Environments)” box along with all Power Platform and Dynamic 365 administrators
- Weekly digest contains details of
- Proactive adoption insights – apps and flows that have not been active for a while and may need to be cleaned up
- Most popular apps and flows
- Number apps used and active users
- Limit sharing
- Allows to set the limits on canvas app can be shared
- Select if users aren’t allowed to share canvas apps with any security groups or with everyone
- If Exclude sharing with security groups is selected, you can control the maximum number of users to whom a canvas app can be shared with
- Data policies
- With Managed Environments, admins can easily identify all the data policies that are applied to an environment

After enabling “Managed Environments” we will receive a welcome email as
Important Note – When Managed Environments are activated in an environment, all users running apps or flows in that environment must have a standalone Power Apps or Power Automate license
