What are the EndPoints

• Endpoint is any device that connects to corporate network – Mobile, Tablet, Laptop, Desktop computer, IOT devices, Switches etc. 
• Types of Endpoints​
  • Managed Endpoints​
  • Cloud native Endpoints ​
    • Endpoints which are joined to Azure AD
    • These Endpoints are not joined to On-premises AD​

What is Microsoft 365 Defender for Endpoint

• Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is an enterprise endpoint security platform that helps us / our customers to prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats on Endpoints

• Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is core service of Microsoft 365 Defender
• Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is available in two plans
  • Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 and
  • Plan 2

Accessing / Using Core services of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint from Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center

• Once we navigated to Microsoft Endpoint admin center as

• From left pane we will be navigating to “Endpoint security” as shown in above fig

• We will be on “SecurityManagementMenu” blade page – https://endpoint.microsoft.com/?ref=AdminCenter#view/Microsoft_Intune_Workflows/SecurityManagementMenu/~/overview
• From the given page we can configure for the services of Microsoft Defender for Endpoints as shown in above fig
• We will discuss each of service details – creating policies in upcoming articles
