Microsoft Teams : Major Update – Wiki retirement and the future of note taking in Teams Channels

Hi All,

Today sharing one of the major update to Microsoft Teams

Major Update : Wikis will be retired from Microsoft Teams

Details – With this change we can access and edit existing wikis but can not create new wikis

When this will happen – This roll out will be started in Mid Feb

What Microsoft is offering

• Microsoft is suggesting to use OneNote notebooks.
• We will have an option to export our wiki content to OneNote notebook – This feature will be released soon. We will have separate article for this
• Very soon OneNote will be default tab to our Teams channel
• For now we can create OneNote tab using add tab in channel

What action we need to take

• As admin we need to update our user manuals
• We need to train our users to use OneNote and demonstrate OneNote features
• We need to train our users – not to use Wiki henceforward and how to migrate Wiki content to OneNote notebooks
