Today sharing one of the major update related to SharePoint Add-In retirement in Microsoft 365

Major Update : Microsoft is retiring SharePoint Add-Ins

DETAILS

• Microsoft is retiring SharePoint Add-Ins
• Microsoft is continuously evolving SharePoint Framework (SPFx) to write applications that can be used in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and in Viva Connections
• If our organization uses SharePoint Add-Ins, they will no longer function after April 2nd, 2026

TIMELINES

• July 1st, 2024 – SharePoint Add-Ins cannot be installed from the public marketplace
• November 1st, 2024 – new tenants will not be able use SharePoint Add-Ins
• April 2nd, 2026 – Microsoft will remove the ability use SharePoint Add-Ins for existing tenants

Alternative Options

• Convert / Migrate SharePoint Add-Ins to SPFx components
