Small Tips and Tricks – Microsoft 365 – How to get / export list of roles having members assigned – from Microsoft 365 admin center – Governance implementation

Today sharing some small but important concept.
In this article we will discuss how to get members of specific roles – this is very important point for having governance in place
Use Case
- Fetch all SharePoint Administrators in tenant
- Fetch all users having any specific role – Global Administrator / Teams Administrator or any other role
- Get all admins from tenant with their roles
Detailed Steps
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 portal – https://microsoft.365 com or https://portal.office.com

- As we are in Microsoft 365 portal, from left pane click “Admin” option as in above figure – we will be navigating to Microsoft 365 admin center as in below figure
- From Microsoft 365 admin center – if in “Dashboard view” – “Admin roles assigned” card is available then click on link “Role-based access for admins” link as in below fig OR
- From left pane click on “Roles >> Roles assignments” as in below fig

- We will be redirected to “Role assignments” page
- On “Role assignments” page we have “Export admin list” link – which will exports all the roles having members assigned

- On click of “Export admin list” will have dialog “Export admin list” as in below snap
- Click on “Export” button on “Export admin list” dialog

- On click of “Export” button in “Export admin list” dialog we will have downloaded admin list as in below snap
