Microsoft Teams : New Feature – Hide General Channels

Today sharing one more new feature.

New Feature – Now its possible to hide General Channel in Teams

Details

• Till now, previously “General” channel in Teams is always shown in channel list. It’s not possible to hide.

• Sometimes, even though the channel is not used, we still have it sticking in your teams and channels list. 
• Now Microsoft Teams users will be able to hide the “General” channel, similar to other channels in a team.

• “If the “General” channel is hidden, it will no longer show in the user’s teams and channels list, but can still be accessed through
  • hidden channels

• or by selecting “show for me” in the manage teams section. – manage teams > channels tab > selecting “show for me“
• Detailed steps :
• Go to “Manage team” – Click on “…” Infront of team name.

• On click of “Manage team” option, right pane will appear with default “Members” tab selected

• Select the “Channels” tab

• On “Channels” tab we can see all the channels which are hidden as well as shown
• For “Hidden” channels “Show for me” checkbox is disables

Note, if “General” is the last channel in the team, then the team will get hidden as well.
