Microsoft Teams – Major Update – Teams Meeting Recordings Auto-Expiration in OneDrive and SharePoint – Updating default settings using Microsoft Teams admin center

In last article we discussed – Microsoft Teams major update – Teams Meeting Recordings Auto-Expiration in OneDrive and SharePoint and how to update default settings using POWERSHELL CMDLETs
In this article we will discuss how to update default Teams recording expiration settings through Microsoft Teams admin center
Details : Navigating to the Microsoft Teams recordings settings in Microsoft Team admin center
- Navigate to Microsoft Teams admin center either though direct URL – https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/ or from Microsoft 365 Admin center as
- Next from left blade – navigate / expand Meetings menu as
- Under “Meeting policies” we will see default available policies as shown in above figure
- Click on “Global (Org-wide default)” policy to open / edit global policy settings as

- Scroll down the “Global” policy settings page – we will have section “Recording & transcription”
- Under section “Recording & transcription” we have two settings
- Meetings automatically expire
- Default expiration time

- Using setting “Meetings automatically expire” we can disable the auto expiration of meeting recordings
- Second setting “Default expiration time” is to set the default expiration period. After this duration since meeting recording created, recordings will be automatically deleted.
- Deleted recording will be moved to Recycle bin and will stay there for 90 days. Admins can restore respective recordings
