Small tips and tricks – SharePoint online : Quick links web part – reordering links

Greetings for the day!!!

Today, small sharing regarding reordering of links in “Quick links” web part

Background / Details

  • For one of our users in organization we are doing training – “Quick links” web part
  • We have configured the “Quick links” web part and layout “Filmstrip” as shown in below figure

  • Now, user wants to reorder the links – want to move first link to last
  • But then I couldn’t find any option to rearrange / reorder the links
  • If we see in below figure, on mouse hover to link – only two options – “Edit” and “Delete“, no “move” option

Solution / Workaround

  • After bit trying various options and googling it found that we need to change the layout
  • When we apply “Compact” layout we get “Move” icon on mouse hover as shown in below figure

  • So if we want to reorder / rearrange the links in “Quick links” WebPart we can do it by changing the layout – “Compact
  • Rearrange / reorder the links and change the layout again
