Today we are remembering our great leader – The former Prime Minister of India. He was a great freedom fighter who fought for India. He threw himself into the struggle for freedom with feverish energy.

About Lal Bahadur Shastri ji
- Born on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, India.
- Lal Bahadur Shastri ji was Prime Minister of India from 1964 to 1966.
- He was born to Sharad Prasad Srivastava and Ramdulari Devi in MughalSara.
- Shastriji had the unique ability to write simultaneously with both hands, showcasing his exceptional dexterity.
- He was very humble and simple man.
- He was popularly known as the ‘Man of Peace‘.
- The first person to receive Bharat Ratna posthumously – Lal Bahadhur Shastri (1966)..
- He promoted White Revolution and emphasized the need of expanding milk production and supply.
- In 1965, the National Dairy Development Board was established.
- He served as Home Minister from 1961 to 1963.
- He studied at East Central Railway Inter college and Harish Chandra High School. He left school to join the non-cooperation movement.
- He worked to improve the Harijans and dropped his caste-derived surname of “Srivastava”.
- His thoughts were influenced by reading about Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and Annie Besant.
- He was deeply impressed and influenced by Gandhi, he joined the Indian Independence movement in the 1920s.
- He served as president of Servants of the People Society (Lok Sevak Mandal). It was founded by Lala Lajpat Rai. He also held prominent positions in the Indian National Congress.
- After independence in 1947, he joined the Indian government.
- He became one of Prime Minister Nehru’s key cabinet colleagues. First, he served as Railways Minister (1951–56). Then, he held many other prominent positions, including the Home Minister.
- He had an extensive personal library and was an avid reader. Books were his constant companions, even during his tenure as Prime Minister.

The most famous slogan of Lal Bahadur Shastri ji is “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan“ Which means (“Hail to the soldier; Hail to the farmer”
That loyalty to the country comes ahead of all other loyalties. And this is an absolute loyalty, since one cannot weight it in terms of what one receives. – Lal Bahadur Shastri ji
