Today sharing feature update about – New self-service purchase and trial settings

Feature Update – The Microsoft 365 admin center is introducing new settings for Global admins to manage self-service trials and purchases. 

What is Self-service purchase?

  • Self-service purchase allows users to try out new technologies and develop solutions.
  • Central procurement and IT teams have visibility to all users who buy and deploy self-service purchase solutions through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  • Admins can turn off self-service purchasing on a per product basis.
  • Previously this option is only available through Microsoft MSCommerce PowerShell module.
  • Now managing self-service trials and purchase option is also available through Microsoft 365 admin center.
  • This setting is available only for Global Administrators.

How to Manage Self-service purchase through Microsoft 365 admin center

  • Navigate to Microsoft 365 admin center.
  • Navigate to Microsoft 365 admin center either through office 365 portal or from direct URL – https://admin.microsoft.com/

  • As we are in Microsoft 365 admin center navigate to – Settings > Org Settings > Self-service trials and purchases as shown in below fig.

  • To update the setting for any listed product, we need to click on the respective product, right pane will with options as

Few details

  • Self Service trial and purchase settings are enabled default and accessible to all Microsoft 365 Global admins. 
  • As future self-service options are launched by products, they will be available to manage in this new setting.
