Greetings for the day!

Today sharing new feature of SharePoint online.

New Feature: Microsoft SharePoint: Design Ideas are now available

Details:

  • Design Ideas are now available in Microsoft SharePoint.
  • What are Design Ideas :
    • Design Ideas allows page / news authors / editors to enhance sections with new layouts and formatting.
  • Authors / editors can now use Design Ideas in Microsoft SharePoint.
  • They can rearrange and reformat their image section.
  • They can also rearrange their text section and banner webpart.
  • Design Ideas identifies the text and webpart content of the section now being authored. It suggests new layouts, backgrounds, text formatting, and image webparts to enhance the section.
  • When we first start an editing session, a red dot will appear in the Design Ideas content pane. This red dot lets you know there are ideas available. Select this pivot to open the Design Ideas panel.

Small Demo:

  • Lets edit any SharePoint page
  • Add new “SECTION” to the page
  • We will see pivot at right hand side as shown in image below.

  • Add “Text” control on the page.
  • Click on “Design Ideas” pivot, “Design ideas” pane will appear.
  • We will see various design options for our “Text” control.
  • As we will click on any option in “Design ideas” pane, it will applied for the control on the page.

  • Lets add “Image” control on the page.
  • We will see various design options in “Design ideas” pane as in image below.

  • Lets apply the first option from “Design ideas” pane.
  • We will see the design applied on the page for “SECTION” as in image below.

Important Note:

For this first release, “Design Ideas” will only be available for the sections containing:

  • 1 banner webpart
  • 1, 2, and 3 text webparts
  • 1, 2, and 3 text and image webparts
  • 1 blank text webpart
