Today sharing one more Major Update related to Microsoft Defender for Identity

MAJOR UPDATE: The “Alert notifications” feature in Microsoft Defender for Identity will retire in November 2024. 

Details:

  • The “Alert notifications” feature in Microsoft Defender for Identity will retire in November 2024. 
  • Users should use the Incident email notifications in Microsoft Defender XDR to manage notification rules.
  • In Microsoft Defender XDR, on the Settings > Identities section, the Alert notifications page starting mid-November 2024 will be retiring.
  • This feature will be completely retired by mid-November 2024.

ACTION TO BE TAKEN

  • Existing settings must be transferred to avoid disruption in receiving notifications.
  • Please note that incidents notifications must be set up through the XDR page. If they are not set up, you will no longer get alert email notifications after the deprecation date.

  • Under “System” menu select “Settings“, we will be redirected to “Settings” page as

  • Click on “Microsoft Defender XDR” as

  • From the left pane under section “General“, click on “Email notifications” as
