Today I am feeling very blessed, humble while writing this article about – one of the greatest man of India – Shri Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
We here in India, on every year of 5th September celebrate Teachers day and we also remember our second president of India – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. We celebrate birth anniversary our great philosopher – Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Teachers’ Day celebration :
The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves. – Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
- Once students asked to celebrate the birthday to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – his reply was “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teachers’ Day.” and we are starting celebrating Teachers day
- For us Teachers’ day is very special day, we appreciate our respective teachers, honors and express our gratitude to them
- 5 September is the birth day of our second president – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. We are celebrating Teachers’ day since 1962
- Worlds teachers day is celebrated on 5th October from 1994
- National Teachers Awards are given on this day to teachers by the President of India. The award is given as public gratitude to the teachers working in primary schools, middle schools, and secondary schools
- Our student holds different activities among schools, collages including Singing competition, speeches, teaching, games and so on
Teachers determination and sincerity will shape the destiny of the nation as they are laying the foundation and the building blocks of the society – Our prime minister Shri Narendra Modi
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan :
Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if 5 September is observed as Teachersβ Day – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 at Tiruttani in Tamil Nadu
- In 1906, he had completed his Master’s degree in Philosophy and became the professor
- An academician, philosopher, and one of India’s most renowned teacher
- One of the most renowned writer in India
- Vice chancellor of Andhra University – 1931 – 1936
- Vice-Chancellor at Banaras Hindu University – 1949 – 1948
- He was elected to the Constituent Assembly in 1946.
- Chancellor at Delhi University – 1953 – 1962
- He served as the ambassador to UNESCO and later to Moscow
- Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was first vice president of India become in 1952. As a president he just accepted 2500 salary out of 10,000 and rest he donated to Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund every month
- Second president of India become in 1962
- Bharat Ratna – highest civilian award in India – in 1954
- The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade – in 1961
- The Templeton prize for promoting the notion of βa universal reality of God that embraced love and wisdom for all peopleβ – in 1971
- In remembrance of Dr. Radhakrishnan, Oxford University started the Radhakrishnan Chevening Scholarships and the Radhakrishnan Memorial Award
- He died on 1975 in Chennai
- His name is nominated 27 times for Nobel prize – 16 times for Literature and another 11 times
- He is one of the founder of Helpage India, a non-profit organization for elderly unprivileged in India

- Teachers play very important role in our life. Even in my life my collage teacher played very vital role and because of him only I can stand today.
- Its our important responsibility to express our gratitude and this day is one of the opportunity π
- Teachers’ day gives opportunity for children’s to got to know the efforts taken by our teachers for us
