By profession I am Engineer and feeling proud writing about this great day – Engineer’s Day and one of the greatest Engineer of India – Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya.

- Every year on 15 September India celebrates Engineer’s day
- 15 September as a Engineer day also celebrated in Srilanka and Tanzania
- This day is celebrated to recognize the efforts of our engineers which helps to made our life easy by continuous innovation and ideas
- In India we celebrate this day on remembrance of the greatest Engineer Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya

About Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya :
- Visvesvaraya was born on 15 September 1860 at Muddenahalli near Chikkaballapur in Karnataka
- Visvesvaraya popularly called Sir MV. Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya
- By profession he is Civil Engineer
- One of the greatest Engineer of India
- He joined the Indian irrigation Commission
- Appointed Chief Engineer of Mysore State in 1909
- Awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955, India’s highest honor
- Father of planning commission – author of the 1934 book “A Planned Economy for India“
- His major project /work was
- Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mysore
- Chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad
- Designing the ‘automatic barrier water floodgates‘, installed for the first time at the Khadakvasla Reservoir near Pune in 1903
- Served as the Diwan of Mysore, where he founded the Mysore Soap Factory, Bangalore Agricultural University, State Bank of Mysore and Mysore Iron and Steel Works
- In 1917, Sir MV founded the Government Engineering College – University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering
- One of the most popular person in Karnataka
