Hi All,

Greetings for the day!!!

Background

  • Our management wants to show some specific posts from Linked In to on our SharePoint online modern page of communication site
  • So we started evaluating / googling how we can achieve this and hence this article
  • As such there is not much options or easy way to do it but sharing our findings

Details

Here we have couple of options as

OPTION 1 : Through Link component / WebPart on SharePoint online modern page

  • Navigate to LinkedIn site – https://www.linkedin.com
  • Navigate to post which we want to show on our SharePoint site page
  • Click on three dots (…) which are appearing at right side and select option “Copy link to post” as
fig : LinkedIn - copying post from LinkedIn

  • Once we copied the link, we will navigate to our SharePoint site and page where we will show LinkedIn post
  • We will edit our SharePoint page, and add “Link” component / webpart as

  • Click on “Edit” option to add “Link” component
  • As shown in below fig, click on “+” sign of section to add “Link” component

  • As we click on “+” icon as shown in above fig, webpart toolbox will open
  • Search for “Link” as shown in below fig
  • From “Search results” click on “Link
  • Link” component will be added on the page

  • As we add “Link” component on page, it will ask to add URL which we want to show
  • Here we will paste URL / LINK which we copied from LinkedIn

  • Republish” the page

PROS of this approach

  1. Very easy only couple of minutes job
  2. Easy maintenance and we have full control – which post show, when to remove the post from our SharePoint site
  3. If frequency of posts to show LinkedIn posts is less, then this approach is useful

CONS of this approach

  1. Manual approach – each time we need to go to site and update
  2. If frequency of posts to show LinkedIn posts is more, then this approach is bit time consuming

Option 2: Add and LinkedIn icon and link to our company page

  • We can add “LinkedIn” icon (social media icons) on our SharePoint page and link to our LinkedIn company page as shown in below fig – Social media icons on following site
  • Most of the SharePoint sites follow this approach.

  • To add those icons and links we can use “Quick links” component / web part
