What is Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations (DSI)

• Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations (DSI) is an AI-powered solution for data security teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks
• DSI helps to
  • locate and analyze data,
  • visualize correlations, and
  • refine security policies
• Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations (DSI) is a new AI-powered solution that enables data security teams to
  • identify incident-related data,
  • conduct deep content analysis, and
  • mitigate risk within one unified solution
• Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations empowers data security teams to find and mitigate data risk from sensitive data exposure. It uses generative AI-powered deep content analysis enriched with activity signals.

HOW DSI works?

• DSI enables data security admins to efficiently identify incident-relevant content by searching their Microsoft 365 data estate to
  • locate emails,
  • Microsoft Teams messages,
  • Microsoft Copilot prompts and responses, and
  • documents
• After an admin scopes an investigation, DSI’s generative AI capabilities allow admins to
  • gain deeper insights into the impacted data,
  • revealing critical security risks and sensitive information.
• DSI visualizes correlations between investigation data, users, and their activities.
• To mitigate identified risks, DSI facilitates secure collaboration between partner teams.
• Post-investigation learnings can be used to refine existing policies to strengthen your organization’s security practices.

How to access DSI in Microsoft Purview Portal

• Navigate to Microsoft Purview Portal
• We can navigate Microsoft Purview Portal either through
  • Direct link – https://purview.microsoft.com/
  • From Microsoft 365 admin center – https://admin.microsoft.com/#/homepage

• As we navigate to Purview Portal, we will be on home page of Purview Portal
• To navigate to DSI page we will click on “Solutions” from left side links as shown in image below

• Click on “Solutions” link from left menu, “Solutions” left pane will appear as shown in image below

• From left pane, click on “Data Security Investigations (purview)” to navigate the “Data Security Investigations” overview page
• As we click on “Data Security Investigations (purview)” first time “Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations” pop up will appear as shown in image below

• To get started we need to check the “Consent” check box at the bottom, as shown in above image
• Check the “Consent” check box
• Click on “Get started” button at the bottom as shown in above image
• We will be redirected to “Data Security Investigation” overview page as shown in image below
