Q 1. Which users can create and deploy DLPs
- The use must be a member of one of the following role groups
- Compliance Administrator
- Compliance Data Administrator
- Information Protection
- Information Protection Admins
- Security Administrator
Q 2. Locations at which DLP can be applied
- Exchange Online for email
- SharePoint and OneDrive for stored and shared files
- Microsoft Teams for chat and shared documents
- Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS (latest three versions) for endpoint protection
- Non-Microsoft cloud apps monitored through Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps

Q 3. What are the licensing requirement to use DLP policies?
- Microsoft 365 E3 or higher: Provides DLP for emails and files from Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Microsoft 365 E5: Includes DLP for emails, files, and Microsoft Teams chats, along with advanced features like endpoint DLP for broader protection.
Q 4. What is Simulation Mode for DLP?
- Simulation mode allows us to see how a DLP policy would behave in our environment without fully enforcing it.
- This mode runs as if the policy were fully deployed, but no actions are taken. So there’s no effect on user activity or business processes.
- All simulated results are reported in a dedicated dashboard, giving you full visibility into the policy’s potential effect.
Q 5. What are Administrative Units?
- Administrative units in Microsoft Entra ID enable us to restrict administrative permissions to specific parts of our Microsoft Entra organization.
- We can create, delete, and edit administrative units in Microsoft Entra.
- This feature lets us subdivide our organization into smaller units and assign specific administrators to manage only the members within those units.
Q 6. What the DLP policy templates include
- Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) in the Microsoft Purview portal includes ready-to-use policy templates.
- These templates address common compliance requirements, such as
- Helping us to protect sensitive information subject to the U.S. Health Insurance Act (HIPAA),
- U.S. Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), or
- U.S. Patriot Act.

- Compliance Manager helps us to simplify the way you manage compliance.
- Compliance Manager recommends actions we can take to comply with industry regulations and standards that matter most to us
Q 8. What is Compliance Score?
- Compliance score measures our progress towards completing recommended actions that help reduce risks around data protection and regulatory standards.

- Compliance score help prioritize which action to focus on to improve your overall compliance posture.
Q 9. What is RETENTION in Microsoft Purview?
- Microsoft Purview retention helps organizations manage content lifespan across mail, files, and messages.
- It supports operational, regulatory, and security needs by preserving data that matters and removing what doesn’t.
- Knowing when and how to apply retention is key to protecting data and reducing risk.
Q 10. Why RETENTION of content is important?
- Data Security.
- For maintaining COMPLIANCE.
- It protects important information from being deleted, either by accident or on purpose.
- Once a retention rule is in place, content is preserved even if a user tries to remove it.
- This is especially important when the content might be subject to audits, investigations, or legal holds.
