Chapter 3 – Copilot Memory – What It Is and How It Helps

Hi All,
Greetings. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL 🙂
The Copilot journey continues.
Today, I’m sharing details about Copilot Memory.
What is Copilot Memory?
- Copilot Memory helps Microsoft 365 Copilot by remembering our preferences, working style, work context and recurring topics
- To view “Copilot Memory Settings” – navigate to Copilot settings and the select “Personalization” from the left pane

- Instead of repeating instructions like “use bullet points” or “keep it professional,” we can set these once.
- Copilot then applies them automatically in future responses.
- We can view, edit, or delete memories anytime in Copilot settings.
- In case we do not want to save anything a use “temporary chat” option so nothing is saved.

- Admins can manage Memory through Enhanced Personalization settings, ensuring compliance and privacy.

What Copilot Will and Won’t Remember
Copilot only saves information when there’s a clear intent to remember.
For example:
- “I prefer Python for all data science tasks” → remembered
- “Write Python code for k-means clustering” → not remembered
We have very good learning series for Copilot – https://knowledge-junction.in/category/microsoft-365/microsoft-365-copilot/
Feel free to discuss any Copilot topic.
Thanks for reading.
