Microsoft Viva – Employee Experience Platform (EXP) – part 1 – discussing what is EXP, its need and why Microsoft Viva

If we see the definition from Microsoft, Microsoft Viva is Employee Experience Platform powered by Microsoft 365 and we can experience it through Microsoft Teams. The employee experience platform designed to help people connect, focus, learn, and thrive at work

But then before go into technical details or deep dive into Microsoft Viva, I would like to explore here what is Employee Experience Platform (EXP)

Note : Most of the point I took from MS documentation but trying to simplify here

Before discussing EXP lets go back bit. Almost every organization / company’s one of the big challenge is sustainability of their people / employees

• Microsoft’s 2021 Work Trend Index found that 41 percent of the global workforce is considering leaving their employer this year due to burnout and a lack of workplace flexibility
• Organizations / Companies / Leaders have major challenge – how to make there people / employees more sustainable. How to make work model / culture to be more sustainable
• Now this requires to transform our traditional work model and culture
• Nowadays hybrid work model is getting more popular
• Location of work is getting hardly matters
• Work is getting more digital and everything moving faster

Why People / Employees are so important for any business :

• When employees / people of any organization do best, business performs better
• Employees of the organization brings organization / company strategy to their life – they plan, execute, communicate and innovate
• Here this is the reason, to have business more successful, organizations / companies need to create more meaningful employee experience which will enable their people / employees to their best work and being satisfied

Here, major challenge is how to bring all these capabilities together in daily work flow those will empower employees / people and teams to their best

Here EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE PLATFORM comes to picture 🙂 :

• To address these issues, companies require a new approach and a new category of technology solutions called EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE PLATFORM (EXP)
• An EXP is a digital platform that puts people at the center by bringing together systems of work with systems of support into an integrated employee experience
• It provides people / employees with the resources and support they need to succeed and thrive, no matter their location
• It helps employees to identify ways to balance wellbeing and productivity, and to adapt to changing needs over time
• It helps leaders to develop their teams and respond to employee needs, decisions that improve team performance, work/life harmony, and wellbeing

And hence here is need of new platform / technology – Microsoft Viva

So coming back to our original topic Microsoft Viva is EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE PLATFORM from Microsoft
