Microsoft Viva – Employee Experience Platform (EXP) – part 3 – discussing – Viva Learnings

Since last two articles we are discussing Microsoft Viva
Today we will discuss one of the my favorite and most important module of Microsoft Viva – Viva Learnings (and my favorite one 🙂 Learning is continuous process )

Viva Learnings :
- Viva learning is one of the module of Microsoft Viva
- Viva learning makes the learning as a part of daily flow of work
- Viva learning brings learning at center place (centralized learning hub) – in the tools which are used by our organization – Microsoft Teams
- Viva learning is by default enabled in Microsoft Teams
- Important point is everything from one place – Microsoft Teams – I could watch videos from Microsoft Teams only no need to navigate to LinkedIn Learning or Microsoft Learn or other provisioned content sources
- Our team can find require learnings (Videos / Articles), can share, recommend to others from one place Microsoft Teams
- Viva Learning helps our Managers / Organization leaders / HR representatives – by recommending required content for us, which helps people / employee of our organization to have relevant knowledge, to keep up-to-date with company policies and so on
How to getting started with Viva Learnings :
- As we are saying Viva Learnings are enabled by default
- From Microsoft Teams search app – Viva Learnings
- To open “Viva Learning” click on “Viva Learning” app as
- As we open “Viva Learning” – Viva Learning home
Lets discuss some important features of Viva Learning :
- By default Viva Learning comes with some content – default providers as shown in below fig
- We could browse the various courses from respective providers
- Next important feature is Search – Search for specific learning content that requires us or supports our career goals
- As we continue to search for and complete more training, our recommended content will update to reflect our interests

- Next feature Share – Share relevant, interesting, and important learning content with your team members or groups in a Microsoft Teams chat or channel

- “My Learning” tab

- From “My Learning” tab we could see –
- Our bookmarked content
- Recommended content for us – may be recommended by our managers / company leaders / HR
- Recently Viewed content
- Our completed Videos / Articles
Viva learning settings in M365 admin center :
- Navigate to – Microsoft 365 admin center >> Settings >> Org settings
- From Org settings navigate to Viva Learning – Microsoft 365 admin center >> Settings >> Org settings >> Viva Learning
- As we navigate to Viva Learning details page we have an option for provisioning default OOB available providers

- Following are the default providers / content sources
- LinkedIn Learning
- Microsoft Learn
- Microsoft 365 Training
- Along with default content sources / providers we could provision “SharePoint” site as well. We will discuss this in depth in next article
Turn off / on (Enable / Disable) Viva Learning app from Teams admin center :
- We could manage Viva apps from Microsoft Team admin center
- We have detailed article – M365 / Microsoft Teams – Introduction to Microsoft Teams – for beginners / Administrators – Part 5 – Managing apps in Teams admin center
- Navigate to Microsoft Teams admin center >> Teams apps >> Manage app
- Search for Viva Learning app
- Navigate to details page
- Change the status – it will be from “Allowed” to “Blocked”
- If we block respective app from “Manage apps” page from Microsoft Teams admin center it will be disabled for all users of the organizations and then we couldn’t find it from Microsoft Teams
Admin roles require to setup Viva Learning :
- To setup additional content providers / content sources , to manage individual licensing we need following permissions / roles –
- Microsoft Teams Admin OR
- Microsoft 365 global admin OR
- SharePoint admin OR
- Knowledge admin
Viva Learning Pricing :
- Some feature of Viva Learnings are with our Microsoft 365 enterprise plans – please check following image
- Microsoft 365 E5
- Microsoft 365 E3
- Microsoft 365 F3
- For features like below we need to purchase extra license
- Provisioning extra content providers
