Today in this article we will discuss about Custom security attributes – How to assigning custom security attributes for a user (Preview)

Prerequisites for assigning or removing Custom security attributes for a user (Preview)
- Azure AD Premium P1 or P2 license
- Attribute Assignment Administrator OR Attribute Assignment Reader role
- AzureADPreview version 2.0.2.138 or later when using PowerShell
Steps for assigning Custom security attributes for a user (Preview)
- We need to navigate to Azure AD admin center – https://aad.portal.azure.com/
- Navigate to Azure Active Directory admin center (Azure AD admin center). We have separate detailed article for navigating to Azure AD admin center – Azure Active Directory admin center – navigating to Azure Active Directory admin center
- As we navigate to Azure AD admin center, we will be have our dashboard
- We need to navigate to “Users” listing
- From left pane click on “Users” as shown in below fig
- We will be redirected to All users listing – MsGraphUsers menu blade
- From “Users” listing select the user to whom we need to assign “Custom security attribute”
- To assign “Custom security attribute” to users, we need to navigate to “Custom security attribute” pane
- From left pane, click on “Custom security attributes (Preview)”
- We have “+ Add assignment” link on Users “Custom security attribute” pane as shown in below fig
- Click on “+ Add assignment” link
- On click of “+ Add assignment” link we will be redirected to the page where we will drop-downs for “Attribute set“, “Attribute name” option for setting the attribute value
- Fill the respective values and hit “Save” button
- Make sure value for attribute set is successfully
Filter users based on “Custom security attributes”
- Navigate to users listing as shown in below fig
- Near, search box in right pane there is “Filter” option – “Add“
- On click of “Add” filter type drop-down list will appear as shown in below fig
- From the respective filter type drop-down select “Custom security attributes” option
- Once we selected filter type “Custom security attributes“, popup will open for the filter values as shown in below fig
- Select following details
- Attribute set
- Attribute name
- Operator
- Value
- As we “Apply” filter we will have search result as shown in below fig
