Hi All,

Greetings. Today one more major update related to new Microsoft Teams client

Major Update : Starting mid-July 2024 (previously April), Microsoft Teams will be retiring the ability to load websites inside the new Teams client when using the Website tab

Details :

  • Due to web security and privacy best practices, starting mid-July 2024 (previously April), Microsoft Teams will be retiring the ability to load websites inside the new Teams client when using the Website tab
  • Instead users will be redirected to browser new tab
  • Existing web sites added to Teams client will also be redirected to new browser tab
  • This change will not be affected to EDU tenant

When this change will happen : Microsoft will begin rolling out this change in mid-July 2024

Note : The teams mobile app will not be impacted

Best Practices :

  • Henceforward rather using “Website” tab, use corresponding app
  • For example to load – SharePoint page in Teams client use SharePoint app
