Microsoft 365 – SharePoint online – resolving error – “Error : Cannot load a resource from a ResourceScope that has been disposed” while saving the document

Greetings.

Today new small issue and workaround.

Background

• We have migrated content (documents / pages) of one existing SharePoint online site to new modern SharePoint online.
• On our new site collection we have new content type for the documents
• When site owners / members trying to save the documents which are migrated, getting an error.

Issue / Error : While saving the document below error is appearing

Error : Cannot load a resource from a ResourceScope that has been disposed

Owners / Members are not able to save / update the migrated documents

Workaround / Solution

• Bit googled and it seems different users / tenants have different solution for this issue
• Some of the solutions / approaches are
  • Verify if storage is full – if storage is full then increase the storage and verify again
  • Empty the both recycle bins – site level and second level as well and verify
  • If versioning is enabled then disable the versioning, again upload the document, replace with existing document and verify again
• But workaround which we worked for us – Move to the classic mode and try updating document. It worked for us like charm 🙂
