Preparing for Microsoft 365 continues. Today sharing 6th set of questions and answers.

Q 1. Which protocol connects Outlook with Exchange?

  • MAPI – Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI). The only protocol that supports Outlook connectivity to Exchange Online in Microsoft 365 and to Exchange Server 2019.

Q 2. Do you know – how many domains we can register with Microsoft 365?

  • 900

Q 3. Do you know – which record is used to locate the Autodiscover service in Microsoft 365?

  • Outlook clients use the CNAME record to locate the Autodiscover service in Microsoft 365.

Q 4. What are Roles?

  • Roles are collections of permissions that allow users and groups to perform specific tasks or functions within Microsoft 365.
  • Example
    • Global Administrator role
    • SharePoint Administrator role

Q 5. What are two types of roles in Microsoft 365?

  • Built-in roles
    • These roles are predefined and available by default in Microsoft 365.
  • Custom roles
    • Administrators can create custom roles to suit their specific needs and requirements.
    • Example : Edit right without Delete permission.

Q 6. What is “Azure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)” ?

  • The Azure RBAC model makes it easy to assign permissions to a user.
  • In Microsoft 365, an administrator can assign each user a role that has predefined permissions assigned to it.
  • So instead of assigning multiple permissions to a user, you assign them a role that has those permissions defined.
  • This model makes permission management much more efficient and effective.

Q 7. What are “privileged permissions” ?

  • Permissions that can be used to delegate management of directory resources to other users, modify credentials, authentication or authorization policies, or access restricted data.

Q 8. What is “Privileged Identity Management” ?

  • Microsoft Entra Privileged Identity Management (PIM) lets us grant just-in-time access to your administrators.
  • Users assigned the Privileged Role Administrator role can manage PIM and update role assignments for other users.
  • PIM automatically removes access when the timeframe expires.

Q 9. What are Access Reviews?

  • Access reviews enable organizations to review administrator’s access regularly to make sure only the right people have continued access.

Q 10. What are Role Groups?

  • Role groups are a convenient and efficient way of managing and delegating the administration of Microsoft 365.
  • Role groups allow administrators to assign multiple roles to one or more users. Granting them the permissions assigned to all the roles in the group.
