Hi All,

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL 🙂 I hope we all are safe:) STAY SAFE, STAY HEALTHY 🙂 STAY HOME 🙂

Today is with very good news 🙂 for News editors / Content editors / Developers life become bit easier now.

In SharePoint online, News scheduling is available as OOB feature now. By looking at pain I fill this is very important feature Microsoft rolled out.

Today morning when I went to “Pages Library” of my News communication site I saw the “Scheduling” option.

From the above “Scheduling” option we need to enable the “Scheduling” for pages library as

Once we have enabled “Scheduling” option for “Pages Library”, we can schedule our publishing pages.

Scheduling option appears in our pages properties as

Once we have scheduled the page, “Schedule” button appears at the top right corner of the page as

Scheduling and Approval Process:

Scheduling also work along with page approvals process. If page approval is set up , and if an author schedules a page or news post for publish, the page must first be approved.

  • After the page is approved, the page is published at the scheduled date and time.
  • If the page is approved at a time later than the scheduled time, it publishes immediately upon approval.
  • If the page is not approved, page is not published.

Can this be used as an alternative for Timer Jobs?

    • Hi Kedar, thanks for reading and following Knowledge-Junction 🙂 Yes, we can say this is alternative for Timer jobs. But also please notice, this is for SharePoint Online and there is no concept of Timer Jobs. But then we have other alternatives available 🙂

I hope this will give your answer 🙂
