Hi All,

Greetings for the day!!!

Today sharing one of the MAJOR UPDATE related to Microsoft Exchange Online.

MAJOR UPDATE – Microsoft Exchange Online will limit dynamic distribution groups (DDGs) to 3,000 per organization starting in April 2025.

Details

  • Microsoft Exchange Online will limit dynamic distribution groups (DDGs) to 3,000 per organization starting in April 2025.
  • Admins must remove existing DDGs to create new ones if the limit is reached.
  • This change is automatic and can’t be turned off.
  • If our organization has fewer than 3,000 DDGs, this change will not impact us.

When this will happen:

  • General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): This limit will be enforced in early April 2025.

Microsoft Recommendation

  • Review the usage of Dynamic Distribution Groups (DDGs) in our organization and remove any DDGs that are no longer needed.
  • We can use the Dynamic distribution groups report in the Exchange admin center (EAC). It allows us to see the number of DDGs in our organization. It also provides insights into their usage.
  • To access this report, go to the EAC > Reports > Mail flow > Dynamic distribution group report.
