Today sharing new feature update related to Microsoft Purview.
New Feature: Data Loss Prevention: Restrict Microsoft 365 Copilot using content with sensitivity labels
Details
- Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is extended to Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available.
- This allowing organizations to use DLP policies to detect sensitivity labels and restrict access to sensitive content.
- Admins can edit or create new policies and use alerting and simulation features.
- This update enhances organization’s data protection capabilities
- By enabling DLP policies to detect sensitivity labels and restrict access to sensitive content within Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Alerting and policy simulation capabilities will also be available.

DEMO – Creating DLP for Copilot
- Navigate to Microsoft Purview portal
- We can navigate to Microsoft Purview portal either through
- Direct Link – https://purview.microsoft.com/ OR
- Microsoft 365 admin center – https://admin.microsoft.com/

- As we are on Microsoft Purview Portal, we will be on Purview home page

- To create DLP for Copilot, we will navigate to “Data Loss Prevention” solution as shown in image above
- As we click on “Data Loss Prevention” solution, we will be redirected to – DLP overview page – https://purview.microsoft.com/datalossprevention/overview

- To create the policy for Microsoft 365 Copilot location, click on “Policies” link from left menu as shown in Image above
- As we click on “Policies” link, we will redirected to “Policies” page as shown in image below

- From “Policies” page, click on “+ Create policy” link, to create new policy for Microsoft 365 Copilot. As shown in above image
- As we click on “+ Create policy” link, “Create Policy” wizard will appear.
- Fill the details.
- On “Locations” tab we will have an choice to select the “Microsoft 365 Copilot (purview)” location. As shown in image below.
